architect spotlight: joseph dirand

We’re back to blogging after a couple of months of working so much we could hardly take a pause!

This week we want to celebrate the designs of award-winning architect and interior designer Joseph Dirand. If you don’t know him, he is famous for the sexy interiors he created for Monsieur Bleu and the Flagship Chloe store in Paris.

His warm minimalism is precisely the essence we aim to capture in our own work. As I’ve noted before – and probably will again – minimalism doesn’t have to be cold, hard, or unemotional…in fact, a peek into the Balmain store in Paris designed by Dirand shows us that a combination of minimal decor and traditional architectural details can feel entirely modern.

He was quoted on  New York Times’ tmagazine blog, when talking about the design of his own home, “It’s not a showroom or something to show clients,” he says. “It’s about life, and generosity.”
